Save $$$ & Devour Downtown Indianapolis!

Indianapolis knows what it's doing when it comes to food, that's a fact. Even better, they like to share it with everyone else too! Twice a year Indianapolis hosts "Devour Downtown" which bring hoards of people into more than 40 of downtown restaurants, to try their tasty fare on a dime.

Devour Downtown Indianapolis - Summerfest started on August 8th, 2011, and runs through August 21st, 2011. It's Indianapolis' largest showcase of food and drinks, and most menus are 3+ courses for only $30! To sweeten the pot, a few of the restaurants are even offering 2 for $30!

While I'm typically the type of person who sticks to the tried & trusted restaurants that I know, Devour Downtown always gives me an excuse to try something new. Especially since the majority of restaurants are high end, you almost can't turn down the opportunity. This year I'm having a hard time trying to decide where to spend my dining hours... do I try Fogo De Chao (Authentic Brazilian Steakhouse), The Rathskeller (Bavarian Flair!), or Forty Five Degrees (sushi)? How to choose?

Don't forget the old favorites too, like Harry & Izzy's, Shula's, & St. Elmo. With 48 restaurants participating you'll never run out of dining options... even if you dine out the entire two weeks!

Whether you're in the mood to dress up and spend a night on the town, or just have a great meal at a really great price, Devour Downtown's many different restaurant options have place for every palette! With some special lunch options, and 2 for $30 deals, this is really an event you don't want to miss!

We'll see you downtown...

Best Barbeque in Indy!

Big Hoffa's Barbecue is the best in town! A best Westfield find.  We took the whole family after reading about the restaurant in the Indianapolis Monthly magazine, and they were right.  It's also very different than any other restaurant.  The place looks like a big old barn from the front and is decorated with a fun theme of  the pirates of Caribbean and houses just a few tables inside. While the best seating is actually the picnic tables out in front. There's nothing better than slopping up good barbecue outside on a picnic table.  (I didn't really just say that..lol) The owner is Adam Hoffman and he started selling his wonderful barbecue from a rolling cart six years ago. This guy is great and I love his story. It's the American way, work hard and the possibilities are endless.  But more importantly for all of us, his pulled pork sandwiches are to die for! The Buccaneer is my favorite and which he calls his flagship sandwich.  http://www.flickr.com//photos/bighoffas/sets/72157624493140269/show/
You'll find Big Hoffa's in Westfield along highway 32 on the north side of the street.  Take the whole family, but one things for sure. take care to read the signs that the owner has posted outside.  Kids need to be watched with a careful eye as to not play too close to the street.  So please be considerate and watch your kids so Adam can do what he does best.  Let us know how you like it. Enjoy!
